Privacy Policy
Last Updated: February 14, 2025
At Paradigm AI, we're pretty straightforward about how we handle your information. This isn't one of those policies written by lawyers for lawyers. We've built our IoT and AI education platform with privacy in mind because, honestly, that's what we'd want if we were in your shoes.
What Information We Collect
When you interact with our platform, we gather different types of information depending on how you use our services. Nothing sinister here, just what we need to make things work properly and keep improving.
Information You Give Us Directly
This includes stuff you provide when signing up or using our learning programs:
- Your name and email address when you create an account
- Phone number if you choose to provide it for SMS updates about courses
- Mailing address for any physical materials we might send
- Payment information when you enroll in paid programs
- Profile details like your learning goals and technical background
- Any content you create or share through our platform
Information We Collect Automatically
Our systems log certain technical information to keep everything running smoothly. This happens automatically when you visit our site:
- IP address and general location data
- Browser type and operating system
- Pages you visit and time spent on each
- Links you click and actions you take
- Device information and screen resolution
- Referring website if you came from somewhere else
Learning Analytics Data
Since we're an education platform, we track your progress through courses and modules. This helps us understand what's working and what needs improvement:
- Course completion rates and module progress
- Quiz scores and assignment submissions
- Time spent on different learning materials
- Video watch patterns and interaction with content
- Discussion forum participation and questions asked
How We Use Your Information
We're not in the business of selling your data. Here's what we actually do with the information we collect:
Purpose | Description |
---|---|
Course Delivery | Providing access to learning materials, tracking your progress, and sending course updates |
Platform Improvement | Analyzing how people use our site to make it better and fix problems |
Communication | Sending you important updates about your courses, new programs, and platform changes |
Support Services | Helping you when things go wrong or you have questions |
Security | Protecting your account from unauthorized access and preventing fraud |
We will never sell your personal information to third parties. That's a hard line for us.
Data Sharing and Third Parties
Sometimes we need to share information with other companies to make our services work. But we're selective about who we work with.
Service Providers We Work With
These companies help us run our platform, but they can only use your data for the specific services they provide to us:
- Payment processors for handling transactions securely
- Email service providers for course notifications and updates
- Cloud hosting services where our platform and data live
- Analytics tools that help us understand site usage patterns
- Customer support software for managing help requests
Legal Requirements
We might need to share your information if required by law, like responding to a valid subpoena or court order. We'll push back on overly broad requests, but we're not above the law.
Business Transfers
If Paradigm AI gets acquired or merges with another company, your information would likely be part of that transfer. We'd notify you before this happens and explain any changes to how your data is handled.
Your Privacy Rights
You've got real control over your information. Here's what you can do and how to do it.
Access Your Data
Request a copy of all personal information we have about you. We'll send it in a readable format within 30 days.
Correct Information
Update or fix any incorrect data in your profile. Most of this you can do yourself through account settings.
Delete Your Account
Request complete deletion of your account and associated data. Some information may need to be retained for legal purposes.
Export Your Data
Get a portable copy of your learning data and content to take elsewhere if you want.
Opt Out of Marketing
Stop receiving promotional emails anytime. Essential course communications will still come through.
Limit Data Processing
Restrict how we use certain types of your information while keeping your account active.
How to Exercise These Rights
Send your request to [email protected] with your account email and what you want to do. We'll verify your identity and process most requests within 30 days. If something's taking longer, we'll let you know why.
Data Security Measures
We take reasonable precautions to protect your information from unauthorized access or disclosure. No system is perfectly secure, but we do our part.
Technical Safeguards
- Industry-standard encryption for data transmission and storage
- Regular security audits and vulnerability testing
- Access controls limiting who can view personal information
- Automated monitoring for suspicious activity
- Secure backup systems with encryption at rest
Organizational Measures
- Employee training on data protection and privacy practices
- Confidentiality agreements with all team members
- Incident response procedures for potential breaches
- Regular review and update of security policies
If we ever experience a data breach affecting your information, we'll notify you within 72 hours of discovering it and explain what happened and what we're doing about it.
Data Retention
We don't keep your information forever. Here's our general approach to how long we store different types of data:
Active Account Data
While your account is active, we maintain your profile information, learning progress, and course materials. This makes sense because you need access to this stuff.
After Account Closure
When you close your account, we delete most personal information within 90 days. Some data sticks around longer for specific reasons:
- Transaction records for 7 years to comply with financial regulations
- Support tickets for 3 years in case of recurring issues
- Aggregated analytics data that can't identify you personally
- Legal hold requirements if there's an ongoing dispute
Inactive Accounts
If you haven't logged in for 3 years, we'll send you a notice asking if you want to keep your account. No response means we'll delete your data after another 6 months.
Cookies and Tracking
Yeah, we use cookies. Most websites do. Here's what they're actually doing:
Essential Cookies
These keep the site working properly. They remember you're logged in and maintain your session. You can't really opt out of these without breaking the site.
Analytics Cookies
We use these to understand how people navigate our platform. This helps us figure out what's confusing or broken. You can disable these in your browser settings if you want.
Preference Cookies
These remember your choices like language preferences or whether you want dark mode. Makes for a better experience when you come back.
Managing Cookies
Your browser lets you control cookies. Check the help section of whatever browser you're using. Just know that blocking all cookies might make some features stop working.
Children's Privacy
Our platform is designed for adults and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you're a parent and think your child has given us their information, contact us and we'll delete it promptly.
For users between 16 and 18, we recommend having a parent or guardian review this policy with you before signing up.
International Data Transfers
We're based in the United States, and our servers are here too. If you're accessing our platform from outside the US, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.
The US has different privacy laws than some other countries. By using our services, you're agreeing to this transfer. We take steps to protect your data regardless of where you're located.
Changes to This Policy
We update this policy occasionally when we add new features or regulations change. When we make significant changes, we'll notify you by email and post a notice on the platform.
The "Last Updated" date at the top shows when the current version went into effect. We keep old versions archived if you want to see what changed.
Continuing to use our services after changes go into effect means you accept the updated policy. If you don't agree with changes, you can close your account.
California Privacy Rights
If you're a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act. You can request information about what personal data we've collected, shared, or sold in the past 12 months.
You also have the right to request deletion of your information and to opt out of any sale of personal data. As mentioned earlier, we don't sell personal information, so that last one's pretty easy.
To exercise these rights, email us at [email protected] with "California Privacy Request" in the subject line.
